The objective of the program is to design and validate a regenerative framework for agave and livestock producers, delivered through a practical technical manual.

The framework will support the adoption of regenerative practices, strengthen traceability systems and improve market access within the country.

The program will be implemented through pilot projects with

selected producers, allowing the framework to be tested and refined under real conditions.

The technical manual will translate this framework into clear, field-based guidance for implementation.

Once validated, the framework can be adopted by additional producers in Mexico and, over time, adapted and replicated across other territories in Latin America.

WHY THIS MATTERS

A structural challenge requiring coordinated action

Across Mexico, agave and livestock production systems face increasing pressure to improve sustainability.

Despite growing awareness and interest in regenerative approaches, many producers operate in fragmented conditions. Transitions often depend on isolated efforts, informal guidance or individual initiatives, making progress uneven and difficult to sustain over time.

ALUX is being developed to respond to this structural gap by enabling coordinated action at the territorial level.

By creating shared reference points and supporting collaboration between producers, institutions and markets, the program seeks to move regenerative transition from isolated efforts toward consistent, long-term sector transformation.

MODEL

The program will begin with an assessment of current production practices, traceability systems and commercialization structures within the selected territories.

This phase will establish a shared baseline to identify gaps, opportunities and priority areas for intervention.

Pilot implementation with selected producers

Based on the initial assessment, pilot projects will be implemented with selected agave and livestock producers.

These pilots will test regenerative practices, traceability approaches and coordination mechanisms under real conditions, generating practical inputs for model development.

Development and validation of the technical manual

Insights and data generated through the pilots will inform the development of a structured technical manual.

The manual will be refined and validated to ensure it provides clear guidance for regenerative practices, traceability requirements and implementation pathways.

Once validated, the framework will be prepared for broader implementation.

This phase will enable the deployment of the manual with additional producers in Mexico and support its future adaptation and replication across other territories.

BENEFITS OF THE TECHNICAL MANUAL

For producers

The manual will be designed as a practical, field-based tool rather than a theoretical document.

Through ALUX, technicians, advisors and producers will be trained to apply it directly on the ground, ensuring real-world implementation.

By connecting technical guidance with daily practice, the manual supports effective adoption and continuous improvement.

For traceability & transparency

The manual will define clear and consistent criteria for traceability and record-keeping.

Practices and progress will be documented in a transparent and standardized way, enabling reliable verification over time.

This creates the basis for a robust verification framework and future label development grounded in real data.

For market access value

By strengthening traceability and verification, the manual supports clearer and more transparent commercialization pathways.

Producers can better communicate product value, reduce reliance on intermediaries and access markets that reward responsible production.

This contributes to stronger positioning and more resilient livelihoods over time.
